Meet Our Associate Principal

I am honored to be the new associate principal for Dickinson Elementary and Preschool and Explorer Community School. I began my career in education over a decade ago when I completed my undergraduate coursework at Michigan State University, earning a degree in Social Relations with an emphasis on Educational Policy, as well as a degree in Elementary Education. I am a lifelong learner, and continued my professional growth by adding endorsements in Early Childhood, Reading, and English Language Learning. I have also completed a Master of Education program and internship in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.
After graduating from Michigan State, I moved to Arizona to begin my teaching career. I taught kindergarten and first grades, served as an instructional coach, and was an Assistant Principal for a K-8 school. My family and I moved to Washington last summer; this is my second year serving the Lake Washington School District as an associate principal.
I believe that high quality education is achieved through collaboration between teachers, administrators, parents and students. High quality teaching is responsive to student needs, recognizes that learning is a social process, and encourages students to explore and discover the why. Teaching is more than covering curriculum; it is ensuring that students are learning the skills, strategies, and content that will prepare them for their future.
I believe in open and authentic communication. I am available through email, by phone, or to meet with you to discuss your questions, concerns and/or celebrations related to your child’s education. We are committed to working together as a team to ensure the best educational, social and emotional outcomes for all of our students. I look forward to partnering with you in your child’s education!
