Meet Our Principal

Dear Dickinson and Explorer Communities:
It is my sincere pleasure and honor to join the Dickinson and Explorer Communities and serve as your principal.   I look forward to getting to know each one of you.  I am impressed with the rich history, academic excellence, and supportive culture of Dickinson and Explorer Communities, and I am very humbled to be chosen to join your family.
By way of introduction, I will tell you a little bit about myself.  I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and have lived here most of my life.  I earned a Bachelors of Liberal Arts from Evergreen State College and while getting my Master in Teaching degree from the same college, I also served as an Executive Fellow to Governor Locke as the Community Involvement Coordinator.  I have been both an English Language Arts teacher and a school counselor.  Additionally, I worked at Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction as the Reading Programs Manager implementing programs to help support students who needed extra help learning how to read.  I have also served as a District Educational Specialist supporting student achievement.  For the past four years, I have served as an assistant principal at the Bethel School District.  I am excited to start my next journey as principal at your schools.  My goal is to partner with families and provide leadership that will facilitate a safe environment where students are challenged academically, have opportunities to explore new ideas, and think like mathematicians, writers, artists, and scientists.
On a personal note, my husband and I have three grown children and one newly born grandchild.  We enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing pingpong, doing crossword puzzles, hiking, and planning our next travel adventure.
I look forward to getting to know the students, staff and families of Dickinson and Explorer Communities, so please stop by and say hi when you have a chance.

Warmest Regards,
Barbara Pridgeon
